Seaport Hotel Boston

An Evening of Joyous Giving

Nearly two hundred friends of Bethany gathered at the Seaport Hotel in Boston for the 2019 Young at Heart Gala, an evening of giving to celebrate a vibrant community and the many joys of life at Bethany Health Care Center. The Gala honored Sue Marsh, former president of Rosie’s Place, as recipient of Bethany’s Change Maker Award.

At the heart of the event was a loving video tribute to the late Sister Declan Sullivan, CSJ. Sister Declan, who passed away in April at the age of 101, was Bethany’s 2019 Young at Heart Ambassador.

In addition to an evening of fun, delicious food and a few surprises, the Gala featured several opportunities for guests to demonstrate their support for Bethany Health Care Center. An array of Mystery Boxes for sale, each containing a donated prize equal to or greater in value than the box price, generated lots of buzz and quickly sold out. During the evening program, a spirited auction-style “Fund Our Mission” live fundraiser led by Gala emcee Susan Wornick pushed the giving total even further toward our goal.

Gala proceeds will benefit Bethany’s robust Activities Program and Bethany’s Building Renovation Project, which will create a new Library and Computer Area, Resident Store, and Meeting Room. Establishing a social hub with increased access to books, the ability to connect with loved ones on social media, online gaming and classes that stimulate the mind, and an opportunity to shop independently, the new area will enhance daily quality of life for the nearly 160 residents who call Bethany home.
